Born in Bronx, NY, Rob Cabrera has enjoyed a successful career as a renowned creative and as an educator. 

 

Rob started his career in public education after graduating with a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. He also taught at the elementary level in Wisconsin and Florida.

 

While teaching in Florida in 2003, his comic strip SILO ROBERTS was picked up for national newspaper syndication by United Feature Syndicate, which also published PEANUTS. During his time in syndication with SILO ROBERTS, Rob had several celebrities guest star in the comic, most notably NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade. This led to branching out to the world of collectible trading cards with Topps, Inc. and ongoing collaborations with NBA Basketball on a variety of interactive and broadcasting projects.

 

Shortly after Rob ended his run of SILO ROBERTS in 2006, he entered graduate school to begin the next phase of his career in animation and television. Rob earned his MFA in Animation and Visual Effects from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, where he animated, produced, and directed a young Bailee Madison in the award-winning animated short MONICA

After pondering his post-graduate options, Rob established his boutique studio CREATIVE SQUIRRELS, LLC in South Florida, which has been a successful venture since it opened in 2013. Under Rob's leadership, CREATIVE SQUIRRELS has worked with many popular brands, people and networks and has become a sought-after creative solution for different types of projects across many genres.

In 2016, Rob won his first Emmy Award for animation work commissioned by NBA Basketball/ Fox Sports/Bally Sports/ Miami HEAT

 

In addition to working on projects for publishing and gaming, Rob also serves as the Concept Art Lead Instructor at his alma mater Academy of Art University in the Game Development Department.

Recently in 2024, Rob has started guiding development on projects for the newly-formed Squirrel Cafe Games under Creative Squirrels, LLC. 

 

He balances work and life in South Florida with his wife and household of furry pets.
